Bioinformatics and Computational Biochemistry

The Bioinformatics and Computational Biochemistry Group (BCB) at the EML was established in autumn 1998. It is primarily funded by the KTF (Klaus Tschira Foundation).

The main focus of the research of the group is the development of computational methods to model, simulate and analyse biochemical processes, as well as the application of these methods to specific biochemical problems, e.g. calcium signal transduction and the metabolism of leukocytes.
Example of an abstract view of a protein sequence tree which contains about 5300 leaf nodes.
