"Fishing protein function with 3D descriptors"

Sprecher: Dr. Maria Teresa Pisabarro, Group Leader Structural Bioinformatics, BIOTEC TU-Dresden

Genome functional annotation is one of the major ongoing challenges for Bioinformatics and requires the development and application of innovative approaches. The research focus of our group is the development and application of computational methods to investigate protein structure, molecular recognition and protein structure-function relationships. The development and application of structure-based computational approaches to predict and/or confirm structural features of non-characterized proteins will be presented. Our hypotheses help to predict and understand protein function and, in close collaboration with experimentalists, to unravel cellular networks.
