The analysis and interpretation of scientific data is crucial for the understanding of scientific phenomena and the discovery of new concepts. The organisation of the scientific data in a model that captures the concepts and relations involved in a given scientific process together with appropriate methods to visualize this data can facilitate the understanding and reasoning over the data.
The Scientific Databases and Visualization group at EML was founded in July 1999. It focuses on research and development in the area of scientific databases and the visualization of scientific data. Apart from defining our own research projects we aim at defining joint projects with other groups at EML providing knowledge and recommendations in the areas of design and development of databases, user interfaces, query systems and visualization.
More information about the groups activities and software can be found here.
